Skipping Final Exam: Reasons and how to Skip Tests

Most students have to choose. They must sacrifice the time they can spend playing video games, exercising or partying, or studying.

The latter is usually the easier of the two choices. If you’re faced with this dilemma and are wondering how to skip final exams, here is an article explaining why it’s a good idea.

How to Skip your Exam

1. Get a Note from Your Professor

The first step is to talk to your professor. If you still want to take an exam, you will need to make an appointment with the professor to discuss the course material and how much time you would need for the test.

Ask them if they will be able to give you a make-up exam. If they will not, ask them why not.

You may want to find out if they have computer problems or anything else that could be causing the problem.

You can also discuss other ways to help prepare for the exam, such as reading over your notes and reviewing any material covered during lecture time.

2. Fake Sickness

Fake sickness is the first thing most people consider when they have to skip their exams. If you feel sick and need some time off, it can be hard to convince a teacher that you are not well enough for an important test.

However, there are some things you can do so that no one will suspect that you’re faking it. For example, if you feel like your stomach is bothering you and your throat hurts, try eating something soothing like ice cream or soup before entering the classroom.

You can also take some medicine for your stomach or throat if needed. This should help make it appear that your symptoms are real and are not caused by anything other than being sick in general, i.e., not from cheating.

3. Take it Online

The best way to do this is by taking the test online. Online tests are usually convenient because they don’t require much preparation or study time. You can take an online exam whenever you want, at your convenience.

An online test can be the perfect solution if you are worried about missing a deadline or getting behind on work. You won’t have to worry about sitting in class and waiting for the professor to call on you or having enough time to complete all the questions on a paper exam.

4. Determine where the time goes best

Once you’ve determined what time zone works best for you, find out where that location is next to your school or university campus.

Then, set up an appointment with them to help them with any scheduling issues that may arise for them to give you the required amount of time needed for this particular course.

Acceptable Reasons to skip the Final Exam

It is a common practice to skip the final exam in some courses. Many students have done this, and it is important to know why you should or shouldn’t do it. The most common reasons for skipping the final exam are:

1. Health Issues

Skipping Final Exam

Health issues are a common reason for students to skip final exams. This is especially true for students who have already completed their coursework and are waiting to take their exams.

Students should not just take a test when they feel like it, but they should also consider the possibility of having an illness that could affect their ability to study and prepare for the final exam.

To avoid complications, it is best to contact your school’s administration as soon as possible so that they can help you find out how to get permission to skip the final exam if this is something that needs to be done for you to recover properly from your illness.

2. Personal Reasons

Some students may want to postpone their final exams because they want more time with family members or friends, or they just want to relax and enjoy their last few weeks of college life before graduation.

Personal reasons are always acceptable. For example, if your doctor has advised you to take a break from exercise for a few days, it is perfectly acceptable to skip the final exam to allow time for recovery.

If you are suffering from an illness that requires you to rest, it is also acceptable to skip the final exam. However, suppose you choose not to participate in any class or activity and simply sit silently while others engage in their studies and activities.

In that case, this may be viewed as an absence without good cause and could lead to disciplinary action.

3. Religious Objections

Religious objections are among the most common reasons to skip the final exam. A student may not feel comfortable taking a test on a subject that is against their beliefs.

For example, if a student believes that there is no afterlife and, therefore, no reason to take a final exam, it may be wise to skip the test. To be clear, this does not mean that students can just decide to skip the exam without having any reason.

A student must have an acceptable reason for skipping the final exam, such as religious objection.

Also, a religious objection to an exam may be acceptable if the student can show that they cannot take an examination because of their religious beliefs.

For example, suppose a student who attends church regularly and observes Lent cannot take an exam on Friday because they will be fasting. In that case, this may qualify as religious grounds for refusing to take an exam.

4. Travel

If you are traveling to another country, the school may allow you to skip final exams if they are not mandatory. To do so, you must apply for a leave of absence and ensure that your professor approves it.

You may also be allowed to skip the final exam if you have an important reason, such as travel abroad or other unexpected circumstances.

The following are acceptable reasons to skip the final exam:

  • Travel plans for a family member (e.g., school vacation)
  • A doctor’s appointment is due to a medical or life-threatening condition.
  • A funeral service
  • A death in the family

5. Military

Military personnel must meet a certain standard of excellence in their job. The military is a force that enforces peace, stability, and security around the world. This means that the military personnel is not just sitting idle but also getting paid for their service.

Some of them have been deployed overseas, where they have to face lots of dangers and threats. It is, therefore, normal for them to have some degree of anxiety when it comes to exams like their final exams.

Skipping Final Exam

However, there are times when it is necessary to skip the final exam because of certain reasons.

For instance, if you have been injured during an emergency, your medical condition may prevent you from taking the final exams.

In addition, if some personal issues arise, such as sickness or other health problems, skipping the exam may also benefit you.

What happens if you Skip an Exam?

If you miss an exam, the following will occur:

1) You will receive a grade of zero on that exam. This is always the case if you miss the exam. This is very different from grade skipping in school.

2) You will be reported to the instructor for failure to show up. The instructor will report your absence to the Office of the Registrar (OR).

3) A letter from OR will be sent to your home address, explaining why you could not take the exam and your next steps. This letter should arrive one week before the next scheduled exam date.
